About

There is a story behind every piece you’ll find at Carolina Blue.
Perhaps mine began long before I even realised it.

Some of my earliest memories are of wandering through my grandfather’s warehouse. To me, it felt endless — rows of cupboards and drawers filled with lace, embroidery, ribbons and buttons. I would spend hours opening every drawer I could find, fascinated by the textures, the colours and the stories hidden inside them. Sometimes my grandfather would hand me a pair of scissors and let me cut small pieces of fabric to take home. I loved every second of it.

My grandmother spent hours making handmade lace. I can still picture her hands patiently working, stitch after stitch. Looking back, I realise I was surrounded by textiles long before I understood why they fascinated me so deeply.

I think textiles found me long before I found them.

I later studied Fine Arts and imagined that painting would always be my way of creating. But life has a beautiful way of changing our plans.

When my son Thomas was just ten months old, Carolina Blue was born. Its name is a small tribute to both of us: Carolina, and Blue, his middle name.

At first, I restored antique furniture. Over time, my passion naturally evolved towards the things that had always captivated me most: antique textiles, hand-painted ceramics, lighting, baskets, natural fibres, timeless clothing and beautiful objects made by skilled hands.

Today, fourteen years later, Carolina Blue is simply a collection of everything I love.

I travel across Spain in search of forgotten treasures, often discovering them in small villages and workshops. Sometimes those journeys take me a little further, to France, Portugal or Morocco. I work with artisans, independent makers and friends who share the same love for craftsmanship and honest materials.

Some of the lamps are created together with my mother using antique textiles that have already lived a long life. Giving these fabrics a second life feels deeply personal. Every embroidered linen, every piece of lace carries the memory of the hands that made it.

People often ask me how I choose the pieces for Carolina Blue.

The truth is very simple.

I follow my instinct.

I never choose something because it is fashionable or because I think it will sell. I choose it because it moves me. Because I fall in love with it. Because I can already imagine the home where it belongs.

When you visit Carolina Blue, the first thing you’ll notice is the scent of traditional soaps from the South of France. Music is always playing softly — often Björk, bossa nova or something equally gentle. I want the shop to feel less like a store and more like stepping into a home.

A place where time slows down.

A place where beauty is quiet.

A place where every object has been chosen with love.

More than anything, I hope that when you walk back through the black door, you leave feeling just a little lighter.

A little calmer.

Because I truly believe that surrounding ourselves with beautiful things can quietly transform the way we live.

Welcome to Carolina Blue.
